Viral Hemorrhagic Fever

The viral hemorrhagic fever syndrome is a group of findings due to increased permeability and disruption of microvasculature causing local hemorrhage,decreased blood pressure that may lead to shock.Dengue virus is the common cause of viral hemorrhagic fever epidemic in  Lahore,while other viruses are yellow fever virus,Congo virus and Hanta virus.

After 3 to 4 days of fever bleeding starts with petechiae,ecchyymosis,epistaxis and melaena,and proceeds to acute circulatory failure,Even with treatment of these complications,10% of patients die.Disseminated intravascular coagulation and compliment acivation which leads to vascular damage are thought to be triggered by hypersensetivity to the virus.
